Steelmark Business Services Comments on Team905 Partnership

"Team905 came to Steelmark Business Services with a pretty compelling business case as to why it was mutually beneficial for our two organizations to align. At the time, I was already looking into sponsoring a local team, but I wanted to ensure it was an organization who not only shared the same values as Steelmark Business Services, but who was committed to excellence while placing an emphasis on giving back to the community. I am confident I found those qualities in Team905 and I look forward to establishing a strong partnership for years to come."

Thank you to Steelmark Business Services for the generous support. Team905 is looking forward to a great 2012 season.

Winter Training "Oh can you feel the excitement!?!"

Over the past few weeks I’ve been talking myself into focusing on what my winter training will look like. Last year the snow fell early and never really let up until March, so the indoor training started early. I used a program I found to be successful in prior years, which was 12 weeks, 3 days a week, geared towards building power. I also forced myself to ride once a week in the trails throughout the winter. I gotta say that was fun, the trail riding that is!

This winter we’ve been lucky to have no snow at it’s already December 10th. Although the weather has been snow free I’ve been nursing a broken hand for the last 6 weeks and this has negatively impacted my fitness. This was evident in a morning ride today where I was sucking wind on a relatively easy ride.

So, the focus has been on finding a winter training program that WON’T bore me to tears, WILL keep me motivated, and MOST IMPORTANTLY grow my endurance to a level that will allow me to be success in the early spring races I’m targeting.

For this post I won’t be sharing the intricate details of the program that I have developed. Having said that, I have to say I was like a kid in a candy store developing the program. The anticipation and excitement building the program could not be contained and I fond myself working on a spreadsheet at work detailing each week, day, and specific workout. In a short few hours (lunch and breaks of course!), I developed a program that combines a previous program I used, creating power, and a new program.

This is how it looks.

What will keep me from throwing my rollers into the Welland Canal is the variety. This program has high intensity intervals, on rollers, combined with off the bike light weight training. This is called Cardio Residence.

Look for updates over the next coming months as I provide insight into the ever exciting Winter Training!
